A glass top coffee table is a nice addition to a modern living room. However, the glass surface often gets scratches. The damage can be caused by some reasons. It starts with light scratches. This little scratch if not treated soon will develop into deeper scratch.
When the scratch becomes deeper, it will be difficult to remove. Even, you need to call specialist to handle this problem. So, if you find small scratches on your glass table, treat them soon. But, you must be careful when repairing scratches on your own. Too much pressure can lead to cracking the glass. So, you should work gently and carefully.
It is moderate yet challenging, I would call it, to repair damage on the glass top coffee table. You can start by apply toothpaste to the scratched glass using very soft clothes or those made of microfiber. Then, gently run the toothpaste in five minutes or so. Remember not to press the surface deeply.
Dip a sponge to water. Squeeze the sponge and use it to wipe the surface until there is no more paste on that. If the scratches are light, usually they will disappear after you polish them using toothpaste. But, in case the scratches are still visible, you need to apply the polish two or three times more.
After there are no scratches seen, rinse the surface using clean plain water. You can see the progress being made, then. After that, buff the scratches with a discretionary fill-in method for deeper scratches on your glass top coffee table. Apply epoxy resin to the scratches. Epoxy resin is a type of strong glue used to stick things together, usually glass, and covers the surface. There may be many different types of such glue.
But not all of them are suitable to glass surface. Some of them still leave glue mark when try dry. Epoxy resin, on the other hand does not leave any marks on the table. You can find epoxy resin in home improvement stores or even stationery stores.
Bear in mind that not all scratches can be repaired with the technique discussed here especially if the scratches are quite deep. You may need to replace the glass with new one. The most important thing is the prevention. Actually scratches can be avoided. Do not place heavy things on the glass top coffee table, for instance. A coffee table is designed to accommodate only small things.
